Documentation

To rent a car, you need the following:

  • A valid driver’s license (which must have been in your possession for at least 1 year);
  • A valid form of identification (ID card or passport);
  • A credit card (with an expiration date of at least 3 months after the return date of your car).

Please note that it is necessary for all three documents to be under the name of the main renter and to physically bring all three documents with you; due to safety reasons, a copy or screenshot is not sufficient.

Additionally, the reason a credit card is needed is due to the deposit. We wish to simply block a deposit on your card, so it can be released right away upon return of the car in good condition; with a debit card, the sum of the deposit would have to be taken from the account right away.

Furthermore, if you are renting a car from the Luxury car category, two creditcards have to be brought in, both in the main driver’s name. This is only applicable to the Luxury car category.

At the moment, we can only accept credit cards in the main renter's name.

We only accept all official credit cards on which an amount can be blocked as a deposit

It is only possible to rent a car when all original documents are present. This is due to insurance requirements.

As long as both credit cards are under the same name as the name of the main renter, it is possible to use two credit cards to rent a car with Enterprise.

If you are unable to use your credit card due to the limit, we can only advise to contact your bank to see if they are willing to raise your limit. Alternatively, you could change your insurance option in order to lower your deposit.

It is only possible to rent a car if you are able to show a valid driver's license.

When you come to pick up your car, you can bring a printed copy or e-voucher. It is always a good idea to have your voucher with you, so you can check the car rental conditions when necessary.

Additionally, if the booking was not directly made via Enterprise.nl, we kindly advise to inform our colleagues at the counter which insurances and extra options you booked. This is due to the fact that we cannot look into these specifics if the booking was created elsewhere, meaning that without this information, we might for example recommend an insurance that you actually already have.

Besides your driver's license, it is always necessary to show a secondary form of identification. If you rent a car with us, you can show either your national ID or your passport.

Please note that is is also necessary to bring in the actual document, as opposed to a copy.

An international driver's license is only needed for licenses printed in non-roman alphabet.

It is only possible to use a credit card in your own name when booking a car.

The main renter must be the card holder as well; all documents must be in the same name.

It is only possible to use your business credit card for your personal car rental if the credit card has your name on it.

Picking up the rental car for someone else is possible, if the person picking up the car rents the car in their name and then adds the initial individual as the additional driver. This is due to the fact that driver’s license, credit card, identification and rental contract must be under one name.

A deposit is required for every rental car. When filling in the rental agreement at the location, we will ask for a valid credit card, as we will reserve the amount of the deposit on your credit card. The amount varies depending on the car category and the level of insurance.

When you are booking your car, you will be able to see how much the deposit is before you finalize the booking. On the last page, where you'll also fill in your contact details, you can see a menu. Click "Forms of Payment" for an overview of the deposit amounts. There you'll be able to see what your deposit will amount to, depending on category and insurance.

We ask our customers to have a valid driver’s license, which on the first day of the car rental must have been in your possession for at least one (1) year.

Additionally, if your driver’s license is not written in Roman letters, an international driver’s license is needed for verification. The international driver’s license needs to be brought alongside your regular driver’s license.

The minimum age to rent a car with Enterprise is 18 years old.

Some car classes can only be rented from the age of 25. We’ve set up our booking tool in a way where you simply get to see the rental cars available within your age category.

If you have a driving licence issued by a country not being an EU/EFTA country, then the categories on your driving licence must be divided into the A, B, C, D, E categories for you to be able to rent a car in the Netherlands. According to the RDW (Driving with a foreign driving licence | RDW)
